Blessing comes in all shapes and sizes, and for the people of Karjan taluka, or 8 villages per se, it came in the disguise of Cosmo Foundation. Yes, Cosmo Films is a big name in the industry and its philanthropic wing is Cosmo foundation. Two of the members of Baroda beat have been fortunate enough to work as interns and have had an enriching experience in Cosmo through the means of MSU. Cosmo foundation would always remain special in a way because during this experience only, Baroda beat came into existence!

Generally the work done by the organization as a part of their CSR activity is not recognized enough and even if it is, it is not appreciated enough because of the business initiatives attached to it.

But there are companies who are doing commendable work in CSR and it must be recognized. So the structure of Cosmo has its CSR head, Ms. Mamta Baxi, and the staff of Cosmo foundation. Cosmo foundation has its centres in 8 villages of Karjan Talukas and they are assisting in increasing the reach of education, awareness and betterment of life skills for underprivileged children and rural youth. They provide education and for that they recruit staff for employment generation too.

The main programs of Cosmo foundation involve CLP (Computer Literacy Programme), BEP (Basic English Programme), CGVK (Cosmo Gyan Vihar Kendra) and all these projects work with the sole objective of ensuring that education reaches to children even in the case when children are not able to reach and avail it. It has been said that teachers are second parents. Cosmo has ingrained this in their value system and the teachers are called "Balmitras" because they provide education by creating a bond of friendship with the children. For ensuring that this program is successful, teachers are trained first and they work under great leadership. The system at Cosmo requires continuous updates from the teachers of the activities done at their centres. Through Social Media they make teachers well familiar with technological advancements.�

At Cosmo the traditional methods of teaching are matched up with the creative and innovative techniques. For example, in BEP "phonics" is used for English learning along with other multimedia resources. Along with different activities in CGVK, students are informed about the modern trends which are ongoing throughout the world. In CLP along with basic computer education, students are taught of use of computers in day to day life.



To motivate them and work harder they have a lot of positive reinforcements like celebrating various festivals and award functions. Through this award functions all the students who excel in computer among all the centres are gifted a laptop along with internet dongle. Every student, especially the slow learners are paid more attention to, by teachers. The parents are also constantly kept in loop about their child's progress and the problems. From last year, Cosmo has started engaging life skills modules. The use of health card is working in field of creating healthy and clean environment for kids. Cosmo has also started working for the project "Swachh Bharat, Swachh Cosmo" which is inspired by Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, in which they are actively engaging students in the cleanliness activity.

"Here at Cosmo, teachers are not directive, they are facilitators, who help children learn how to learn" says Mamta Baxi, who has implemented peer learning, group learning and so many innovative techniques of education. They are a dedicated team of teachers, working hard to achieve the objectives of the Cosmo foundation.
